For many Mumbai families and couples, Alibag is the easiest escape from the city. But the busiest beaches are not the whole story. Travel a little further down the coast to Revdanda and Korlai and you get the same sea breeze with far fewer people. Here is how to plan a relaxed weekend there.

How to get there from Mumbai

  • By road: The most flexible option if you are travelling with family or luggage. Drive towards Alibag and continue south along the Revdanda–Murud road to Korlai. Travel time varies a lot with traffic, so leave early on Fridays and avoid peak holiday hours.
  • Passenger ferry plus road: Boats run from Mumbai (Gateway of India or Bhaucha Dhakka) to Mandwa jetty and take roughly 45 to 60 minutes. From Mandwa you will need a taxi or your own pickup for the onward drive to Korlai.
  • Ro-Ro ferry: This takes your car across to Mandwa, about 60 to 75 minutes at sea, so you can drive on from there.
Check before you travel: Ferry services are weather dependent and can run on a revised schedule or pause during the monsoon. Confirm current timings with the operator, and tell us your arrival plans so we can help with directions.

What makes this stretch different

The coast around Revdanda and Korlai is quieter and greener than the Alibag town beaches. You get fort ruins, a river mouth, village lanes and sea views without the weekend crowds. The Seascape sits on the Revdanda–Murud road, and our gate literally opens onto the sea.

Friday evening or Saturday morning: arrive and slow down

Check-in starts at 2:00 PM. If you arrive early, leave your bags, have lunch and wait for the room to be ready. Spend the afternoon at the common pool or the lawn. If you have booked a private pool suite, you may not leave your room until dinner, and that is entirely the point.

Saturday evening: bonfire and a Konkani dinner

Evenings here are for sitting outside. We light a large bonfire, and the in-house kitchen serves authentic Konkani food alongside familiar multi-cuisine dishes. For anniversaries and birthdays, a candle-light dinner by the sea can be arranged on request, so ask when you book.

Sunday: one outing, then home

If you have the energy, pick one outing rather than three. The easiest is Korlai Fort in the morning, followed by a late breakfast and a slow check-out at 11:00 AM. If you want more ideas, our guide to things to do near Korlai and Revdanda has the full list. Plan your return drive or ferry with some buffer, because Sunday evening traffic towards Mumbai is heavy.

Packing list

  • Light cotton clothes and a hat or cap
  • Swimwear, and a change of clothes for the pool and the beach
  • Sunscreen and mosquito repellent for evenings outdoors
  • Good walking shoes if you plan to climb to the fort
  • A valid government photo ID for every adult guest (PAN cards are not accepted), as listed in our guest policies

Which room should you pick?

Couples usually go for the open-to-sky private pool suite or the bath-tub room with a sea view. Families tend to prefer the family room with two double beds, or the close-to-sky pool suite, which has a living room and a study area. Browse all six categories on our rooms page.
