Alibag works as a getaway almost all year round, but each season gives you a very different trip. The short answer: October to February is the most comfortable time for sightseeing and the beach, March to May is hot but quieter on weekdays, and the monsoon (June to September) is green, dramatic and best for a slow resort stay. Here is what to expect in each season on our stretch of the coast around Korlai and Revdanda.
October to February: the classic season
Once the monsoon withdraws, the coast settles into its most pleasant weather. Days are warm and sunny, evenings and early mornings are cooler, and humidity drops. This is the best time to walk up to Korlai Fort, explore the Revdanda ruins, take the boat to Murud-Janjira and spend long afternoons on Kashid beach.
- Good for: sightseeing, beach days, bonfire evenings, family trips
- Watch out for: busy long weekends, Diwali, Christmas and New Year. Book well ahead for these dates, especially pool suites.
- Tip: weekday stays in November, January and February are often the calmest of the whole year.

March to May: hot days, quiet weekdays
Summer on the Konkan coast is hot and humid, with strong midday sun. That does not rule it out: it simply changes the rhythm of the day. Plan outings for early morning and late afternoon, and spend the middle of the day in the water or in the shade. This is when a private pool suite earns its keep.
- Good for: pool-centred stays, school-holiday family breaks, mango season in the Konkan
- Watch out for: heat on the open hillside at Korlai Fort; carry water and avoid the walk between late morning and mid-afternoon
June to September: monsoon on the coast
The monsoon transforms the Konkan. The hills turn green, the sea turns grey and wild, and the air is cool and fresh. It is the season for watching the rain from a covered patio, long lunches and doing very little, which is exactly what many guests from Mumbai and Pune come for.
- Good for: couples, slow weekends, workations, rain-watching
- Watch out for: rough seas. Swimming in the sea is unsafe in the monsoon, and boat services such as the Murud-Janjira ferry are usually suspended.
- Getting here: passenger ferries from Mumbai to Mandwa normally stop for the monsoon, roughly from late May to the end of August. Plan to drive, or check whether the Ro-Ro service is operating before you travel.
